Allergies can be a really big problem to deal with. The thing is that allergies are affecting more people than ever before. Studies have found out that one out of three people suffer from this unfortunate affliction in one way or another. These allergic reactions usually take place in areas that are laden with environmental substances known as allergens. These allergens are normally harmless, but these days they are considered to be more detrimental and even lethal to certain individuals. These allergies can range from mild allergies such as those involving systems of hay fever and eczema, to potentially more serious allergic reactions such as asthma, food allergies and allergies due to wide varieties insect bites such as that of bees and wasps.

There are a lot of ways that a person can beat allergies. The first and perhaps most common method involve the use of a variety of pharmaceuticals. This treatment is common, especially when it comes to severe allergic reactions that could lead to anaphylactic shock. People who are undertaking this method take regular prescription medication do so in order to keep their hypersensitivity and allergic reactions at bay. However, a lot of people are apprehensive of this method since it involves some sort of drug dependency.

Nowadays, a lot of people are looking for a more kosher or natural method in which they can beat allergies. The most popular one is to simply avoid having to encounter the allergens. For instance, people who are allergic to animal hair tend to stay in areas that are not full of them. Another way, especially for those who have sensitive skin, is to use products that are organic and anti allergenic. These products include powders, oils, shampoos, soaps and lotions. However, people who are suffering from airborne allergens find it hard to avoid them. That is why they undergo immunotherapy, otherwise called desensitization therapy. This involves vaccines and antibodies.

There have also been suggestions that regular fish and onion intake makes airborne allergies more bearable. This is due to the fact that they contain liberal quantities of omega-3 fatty acids. These help to reduce inflammation which is a direct reason for the majority of all the allergy symptoms.

Saline nasal sprays have also been seen to cause immediate relief to allergies, especially for congested noses and scratchy throats. The rationale for this is that saline sprays are thought to liquefy the obstructing extra secretions and mucus in your nasal cavity, thereby reducing the risk of crusts forming which results in the congestion. Studies have also said that the salt water restores the moisture in the dry nasal passages and the sinuses, which takes care of eliminating the inflammation of such areas.
